1mm=0.001 meters.

1m=1000mm

AutoCAD works in drawing units not in scale like it is done on paper.  Thus 1 unit can equal 1mm, 1cm or 1m for example.  Scale becomes important when we plot however as we want the drawing to fit on our paper.  Paper space layouts are considered to be 1 AutoCAD unit = 1mm.

Hello Tariq.
On recent Autocad release you can set an "insertion scale" in the "DDUNITS" pannel that will allow you working on different files ( or in the same file ) in different units without any problems.
If you choose to work in millimeters, you can also set your dimensions with a "linear scale dimension factor" ( that you will find in "DDUNITS" / principal units )  of 0.001 that will write "1" to a dimension of "1000" ( "1" for 1 meter = "1000" for 1000 millimeter ).
If you choose to "rescale" your drawing ( which I do not recommand, or all from the 0.0.0 origin ) you can rescale it with a factor of 0.001 to convert a drawing from millimeters to meters.
In any case, be carefull with the settings of your dimensions.
Eventualy, take a look at the drawing that I recently uploaded : FEET-METERS.dwg in the directory : CAD Blocks.
