While visiting the Autodesk office in San Francisco recently I chatted with Justin Lokitz who is not only one of the best home brewers of beer, but also the Product Manager for AutoCAD Map 3D. Justin mentioned what earthmine was and the availability of the new product extension for AutoCAD Map 3D and then the earthmine CEO Anthony Fassero demonstrated the technology live. It is amazing and only similar to Google Map Streetview being able to see panoramic photos of a location on a map, but that is where similarity ends. earthmine is a professional GIS tool with rich and accurate data where you can even take location and horizontal and vertical measurements and even see right down to locations of 2D and 3D objects such as mapping your cities bus stops, underground piping, trees, or manhole covers in context of your GIS datasets within AutoCAD Map 3D. You can also visualize the automatically created point cloud data behind the panoramic imagery.
