How do I add already created hatches to Autocad 2012? I have PAT files from someone else.

Put the hatch pattern in a folder that is in the support file search path of AutoCAD.

Click on the ADD button to the right and then add the "path" to the folder containing your new .pat file(s).

My folder with my new PAT hatches is somewhere in the C drive. Isn't there an specific folder where hatches live? Otherwise, I believe Autocad will not find the new hatches.

Listen very carefully.

As long as AutoCAD knows where to find the folder it will find your .pat file.  It could be on the far side of the moon and AutoCAD wouldn't care.  That is why one types in the "path" to their file.  Consider this "path" to be like a trail of bread crumbs to a hungry animal.  It will find the source.

If you want to put your .pat file(s) where AutoCAD does then make sure you know what the correct folder is.  One way to obtain this information is to type (findfile"acad.pat") at the command line then press Enter.  AutoCAD will display the "path" to the hatch pattern file currently being used by the program.

WARNING!

One downside to placing custom files in the AutoCAD folder is that you could overwrite the folder contents or the folder is deleted for some reason (maybe an upgrade?).  There goes your custom files.  Bye, bye.
