Hi,

We got a problem here and we don't understand where it comes from.  We had check and done everything possible to find where the problem comes from and we still have no answers.

We are working with Autocad 2002 and we got file size problems.  File sizes are too big.  Between 5 and 7 megbytes when there is only a couple of lines in it.  We tried several things to solve the problem but nothing seemed to work.  Purge, save as, wblock with only couple of elements, xref links, etc.

Does anybody has experienced this problem so far?

Thanks!

Do you purge Regapps and Zero Length Text Strings?

Have you run an Audit on any of the files?

Do you utilize layer filters?

When I have a problem with a file and I don't understand why I rename it
ABCEDF.dwg to ABCDEFXXX.dwg and open a new file from our standard ( this file includes all the layers, dimstyle etc... of our company ).
I save the file as ABCDEF.dwg, I erase everything and purge the file then I insert the ABCDEFXXX file inside it at 0,0,0 and explode it ONE time only.
I copy/paste the paper presentations and set active all the ports ( or use the AutoCAD Design Center).
I purge the file and it's OK.
I supose that there are settings that I have forgoten, some that I don't know and some that I don't have access etc..

Hi,

I've just tried your solution step by step and once I save the file, the size became exactly as the original.  2.6 megs.

Regapps can only be purged from the command line version of the purge command that is preceded by a dash as traburke demonstrated above.

Have you run an Audit on one of the files yet?

Do you use layer filters?

I hate asking questions twice.

I did all you said.

Audit = nothing
-purge = no regapps in the listing
layer filters = no
