hi guys,

first up im really new to CAD and this forum so if im going about anything the wrong way, sorry :P

my issue:

I have created a 3D thread call-out object which i was hoping to use multiple times in my assembly drawing.
The plan was to create a block that i could insert into my drawings to put into some of my other components and use the 'subtract' tool to create an appropriately sized hole to indicate where the screw will go.

However i can't get this to work because the 'subtract' command doesnt recognise any 'solids, surfaces or regions' because the object is a 'block reference'

is there some way to convert the block reference into a more tractable format so i can use it in the way i want to? or is there a completley different way i should be going about this?

any help is greatly appreciated :)

For a moment there I swear you were talking about AutoDesk Inventor with terms like "3D thread call-out object" and "assembly".  Are you?

Anyway, one cannot do an add or a subtract from a block.  The block would have to be exploded.
