I use the Dynalog  program from Blum to draw kitchen cabinets, drawers, hinges and so on. After finishing the drawing in Dynalog I import it to Autocad via a plugin and then save the drawing on my desktop.

Problem: When I import the cad file into sketchup there are some info missing. All of the wood parts are there (cabinets, drawer bottoms and backs) but the Blum hardware is not (slides, sides and fittings).

My solution for now: If i explode the drawing in Autocad first, the problem with missing info is no longer there and I can import everything into SU. Doing it this way causes other problems. Instead of importing maybe 40 different layers, blocks etc, there is now (after exploding) maybe 400 different layers, blocks etc to be imported inton Su. Big increase in download time!

Is there a better way to solve a problem like this.

Thankful for answer

There is no way to go directly from Dynalog to SketchUp?  What is the difference between a cabinet in Dynalog and a piece of hardware?  What have you done to troubleshoot the problem?

No, I can´t import directly from Dynalog to SU. The Dynalog program exports the file in a bxf format and this is a format that isn´t compatible with SU. This bxf file must be opened in Autocad first to get a .dwg or .dxf file, since these are the files SU can handle

About the differences between cabinets and hardware. The only thing that I can think of is that the hardware have fixed measurements and already exist in the program. The cabinets on the other hand don´t have fixed measurements since they are created by the user. After talking to Blum in Austria I know that there are not supposed to be any differences between them. This also shows when I open a cabinet in Autocad because when I do this all is there, but as soon as I go to SU the hardware is gone.

The troubleshooting I have left to an employee at Blum and he has not found anything yet that can explain anything basically.
