    Posted: 06.Jan.2012 at 12:27
Hi,

I have been given blocks from a collegue in order to start creating schematics.  The easiest way to use them is to drag and drop from the design centre which is set to auto hide on the right hand side of the screen..

Once I have found the file in the appropriate folder it shows them as a DWG file.  If I click this file it opens a sub folder containing the 'blocks'.  Once clicked this then it shows the blocks used to create this DWG.

The Problem:  The in some cases the block is named the same as the DWG file it sits in.  Therefore I can't drag the DWG file into my schematic, instead I have to open the 'blocks' and drag it in this way.  The error message that appears is '*Invalid* block ........ references itself'.

Is there any way of changing the block name rather than the DWG file it sits in....sorry for this long winded explanation.  If I take it into block editor then it changes the DWG file.

Thanks

Sam

You can rename the block with the "RENAME" command.   Not sure if thats what your looking for.
