It’s Launch Day! The day when we release our new products to fly free into the world. This year, that’s a lot of products and suites—if I tried to list them all here, you’d get bored and go read something else. So instead, I’ll focus on the one you care about most: AutoCAD LT 2013. So what’s new? Glad you asked! I’ll be covering many of the improvements in future posts, but I wanted to start with two of the biggest today. Integration with Autodesk 360 Autodesk 360 is the collection of new cloud-based services, including document storage, collaboration, and industry-specific applications like Autodesk 360 Rendering for Revit. Inside AutoCAD LT 2013, you’ll find direct connections to Autodesk 360 on the Online tab. Save your drawings online to access them anywhere, send them to the AutoCAD WS app on your mobile device, and even save your custom settings to the cloud so you can get them right away on any computer. Autodesk 360 accounts are completely free. In fact, if you’ve ever logged on to the discussion forums, Autodesk Labs, or AutoCAD WS, you already have an account! I’ll have much more on this topic soon, but know that it’s here, and it’s gonna be big. Mac or Windows: You Choose AutoCAD LT 2013 is now fully available on your platform of choice. Buy a standalone license that you can activate on Windows or Mac (the same serial number will work for both, with a maximum of two activations). Or, buy AutoCAD LT 2013 in the Mac App Store. Your choice. AutoCAD LT 2013 for Mac also includes PDF Underlay and Project Manager (a.k.a. Sheet Set Manager), two big customer requests from last year. New File Format Okay, there’s a third big thing. AutoCAD LT 2013 saves DWG files in the new 2013 format, so you’ll have to save them back (either individually with Save As or by default in Options) to send to people with earlier versions. Ready to Try It? Get your free 30-day trial of AutoCAD LT 2013 at www.autodesk.com/autocadlt. Or, for more information on AutoCAD LT and all the rest of the new products, come to the Virtual Launch Event on Thursday, March 29. Hope to see you there!
