Your original file in CorelDraw was a raster image and it appears that, regardless of the filetype extension, it still saved it as a raster image file. When AutoCAD opened it there was no raster to vector conversion done. So what you're looking at is all AutoCAD could understand.
If you really want to bring this file into AutoCAD save it from CorelDraw as a JPG, BMP, TIF, or some other common raster file type. With that you'll be able to attach it in AutoCAD as an underlay. But it still won't be a vector file. It's asking a bit much for a program like CorelDraw to understand how to create a true AutoCAD DWG file.
Dave.

I am always surprised that people expect things like this to work flawlessly. You're converting a file from one type to another so you should always expect the unexpected and be prepared for disappointment.

Hi Mohammad,
coreldraw seems to be hit and miss with raster to vector conversion. surprisingly, designcad 3d max (i think starting with ver 17) has a decent raster to vector converter. designcad is very affordable. i wrote a no-frills interface to the r2v engine in designcad using vb6, which then allows you to save as a dwg file. works well, and i use it at least once a day. also, wintopo used to have a freeware that worked well. |
