What is the exact nature of the problem?  Does anything come up on screen?  Does it start then crash?  Do you see any type of error message?

More details required.

I see this is going to take some time.

Are you opening an existing drawing or trying to start a new drawing when the error occurs?

So you are saying it doesn't matter what you do.  OK then, you have a problem.  Your options are...

1. Try a search of the AutoDesk website for the specific error message you are seeing.  Maybe there is a fix.  Perhaps it is a .NET problem.  I don't know.

Should you get no results then it is on to option....

2. Do a REPAIR of the installation.  You'll have to do this through the Windows Control Panel and the Add/Remove Programs feature (or whatever it is called in Win8).

3. If that fails then move on to a REINSTALL.

4. If that fails then you will have to do a complete UNINSTALL / REINSTALL.  AutoDesk has very specific guidelines for this procedure that are posted on their website.  Follow them to the letter to set your computer up for what is termed a "clean" install.

Unfortunately you are running Windows 8 and I have no experience with that OS so you are basically on your own unless you seek help through the AutoDesk Discussion Groups for AutoCAD 2014.

Got all that?

What I forgot to add was that I have tried repairing AutoCAD and re-installing it a few times. I also verified that the service pack 2 is installed.

At the first sign of a problem with your OS you should have rolled back the system via a Restore point that predated the 8.1 update.

When you did uninstall/reinstall AutoCAD did you explicitly follow AutoDesk's recommended procedure?

Did you also temporarily disable both your anti-virus program and the UAC?

Sometimes we are in such a hurry we overlook important steps that just come back to haunt us later.
