Q - question

How to dimension an ellipse in AutoCAD?

A - answer To dimension an ellipse, you can use standard linear dimensions. Usually you will dimension the major and the minor axis (axes of the ellipse). So switch on the Center and Quadrant object snaps (osnaps).

Fot the ellipse dimensions set the properties (with Ctrl+1, or preset a dimension style) so that only the second dimension arrow is displayed and no extension lines are used.

The dimensions remain associative with any subsequent changes of the ellipse shape.

If your ellipse is drawn as a polyline (PELLIPSE=1), you can also dimension its outline length (arc length). Or you can use the DimCurve tool.
