Q - question

How to change the default search engine for AutoCAD 2014 commandline?

A - answer AutoCAD 2014 (and the whole 2014-AutoCAD family) offers to search for the typed command on the internet - directly on the commandline, by clicking on the globe icon:

Search

The default search engine is Google.com. You can change it to your favorite search engine service through the Registry.

Go to your AutoCAD HKCU profile - e.g.:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R19.1\ACAD-D001:409\FixedProfile\General

and set the keys "CMLInternetSearchURL" and optionally also "CMLInternetSearchPrefix". The prefix is added in the search term to the typed-in word (you can change it e.g. to "AutoCAD 2014").

The search engine URL e.g. for Bing is:

http://www.bing.com/search?q={0}

The search URL for CADforum tips is:

  • http://www.baidu.com/s?wd={0}
