Q - question

How to disable osnaps for xref objects?

A - answer How can I suppress and switch off object snapping (osnap) for Xref geometry? It hinders me when snapping to entities in the main DWG drawing.

By default, you cannot disable osnaps for xref objects. But you can use the following trick.

Switch your Xref (or Xrefs) temporarily (e.g. through the Properties palette) to the layer DEFPOINTS (you can create it e.g. by drawing a classic dimension). Then freeze the layer 0 - move any needed geometry from it to another layer and set any other layer (other than 0) as the current layer. In this combination of settings, all xref objects will be ignored for osnaps.

Do not forget to revert this layer arrangement back to the original setting - see why not use the DEFPOINTS layer for standard geometry - Tip 11469.
