Inventor reports an error: The referenced document cannot be resolved

Inventor reports an error when creating drawing views from an IAM assembly or an IPT part: The referenced document XXXX cannot be resolved. Please open the document XXXX and resolve it before attempting to use it in this drawing.

This is usually caused my a missing reference. First open the complaining model file and resolve its problem - e.g. a missing component or a reference sketch. Save the repaired model and retry inserting a view to your drawing.
