Navisworks 2016 requires login to an Autodesk account after launch.

Autodesk Navisworks Manage 2016/2017/2018 can be licensed in two ways. You can run it as Navisworks with a classic desktop licensing, or as Navisworks which is a part of BIM 360. BIM 360 is a cloud product, so it requires online login using your Autodesk ID.

Check whether you use the right shortcut to start Navisworks. On your desktop or in the Windows Start menu, under the application "Navisworks Manage 2016", you can find the shortcuts "Manage 2016" and "Manage 2016 (BIM 360)". To run Navisworks with the classic licensing, you have to use the shortcut Manage 2016:

Or you can modify the desktop shortcut (icon). There must be the following string used for the Target to consume the local (or NLM) license:

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Navisworks Manage 2016\Roamer.exe" -licensing AdLM

If you use the following value (trailing parameter) for the shortcut Target, Navisworks will prompt to login to the cloud and will consume a cloud subscription license:

-licensing BIM360
