Q - question

Can I save older version files from Inventor 2009,2008,11,10,9,8?

A - answer No - you have to use only the export of dumb 3D models (solids) to save files for older Inventor versions.

And similarly for other Inventor versions (applies also to other 3D modelers) - to transfer data to previous versions/formats use neutral formats - e.g. SAT or STEP (they will not retain 'intelligence'/model history).
