Q - question

Revit error: Unable to open because of unresolved pointer references

A - answer When trying to open a RVT or RFA file, Revit displays the error message:

Unable to open because of unresolved pointer references. Contact Autodesk Support.

This problem may be caused by a corrupted Revit file (e.g. due to a communication error, hardware problem, virus, edits in an incompatible program), or by a disrupted licensing mechanism.

Try to open the complaining file with the Audit option checked:

If it is a central model, try to copy it under a different name to the same folder and open it with the option "Detach from central".

If these steps will not help, look for a backup file, a journal, or send the file to Autodesk Support through your subscription account for an recovery attempt.
