Q - question

Animate dyn.block parameters and dim.constraints in AutoCAD DWGs.

A - answer With a simple freeware utility AnimPar, you can add animation to your parametric dynamic blocks and assemblies connected with dimensional constraints.

AnimPar allows to programmatically change values of dimensional parameters in dynamic blocks and in dimensional constraints. So you can add animation, motion, movement (rotation, scaling, sliding) to your DWG drawings (kinematics). See example:

The animation sample drawing, Merkur2.dwg, can be downloaded from the Block library. It employs geometric constraints, block parameters and parameters in dimensional constraints - see the AutoCAD ribbon Parametric.

You can download the LISP application AnimPar from Download, load it in AutoCAD with APPLOAD and type the command ANIMPAR.

Choose the animation speed (animation step delay) and select either a dynamic block with dimensional parameters or directly one of dimensional constraints in your DWG. In case of a block you can choose its parameter to use (by a number). For the selected parameter, you specify its initial, start value (it is taken from the drawing), the stop value (final) and the step (increment). AnimPar then starts the animation.

NOTE: Some combinations of the selected animation speed and the PC (graphics) performance may lead to hangups.
