Q - question

Attaching a xref to AutoCAD DWG sets a relative path automatically, can I change it to absolute?

A - answer AutoCAD 2018 adds the new system variable REFPATHTYPE, which controls whether the reference files are attached with a full, relative or none path when they are initially linked to the host DWG.

By default, this variable is set to 1 – AutoCAD uses the relative path. To use absolute path like in the previous releases, set this variable to 2. The value 0 means that the default path used for xrefs is "no path".
