Q - question

Double-click on a text gives: Unknown command DDEDIT.

A - answer When you doubleclick on a text entity, AutoCAD Mechanical 2015 reports the error "Unknown command DDEDIT" (most probably in a localized version of AutoCAD).

The command DDEDIT was replaced by a newer command, TEXTEDIT, in the version 2010. But the preset double-click action may refer the older, global version of the obsolete command _DDEDIT.

You can solve this either by correcting the double click action on the text-type object (the dialog CUI > Double Click Actions > Text > Text, Edit) - see:

or by remapping the DDEDIT command (similarly to its localized version) using the alias file ACAD.PGP. Append the following line to this file:

DDEDIT, *TEXTEDIT
