Q - question

Quick dynamic measuring of objects near your cursor.

A - answer One of the new features in AutoCAD 2020 is the option Quick in the command MEASUREGEOM). It allows to quickly acquire dimensional information about distances, angles and right-angle connections in proximity of your mouse cursor:

Measure

Switching between the quick mode (vs. the last used) of measurement when launching the command (e.g. from the ribbon) is controlled by the undocumented variable MEASUREMODE. During the quick measure mode, the AutoCAD dynamic mode is temporarily enabled automatically (DYNMODE).

Text size and transparency of the temporary labels indicating measured data is controlled by the same settings as dynamic-mode tooltips - i.e. see the command +DSETTINGS 3, the button "Drafting Tooltip Appearance" and the variables TOOLTIPSIZE and TOOLTIPTRANSPARENCY, label data format is controlled by UNITS.
