Q - question

Error: Inventor.exe is not currently registered

A - answer When attempting to run Inventor you get the following error dialog and the application is not launched:

Inventor.exe is not currently registered and did not correctly re-register on start up. This is probably because you do not have enough access rights (e.g. you are a Restricted User). Ask an Administrator or Standard User to re-run the program for you.

This is really caused by insufficient access rights (possible UAC in Windows Vista and Win7) in situations when you run (alternate) two Inventor versions on your computer - e.g. Inventor 2010 and 2009. On the first launch of the other version, Inventor needs to register itself in the system (which normally occurs during instalation) and this requires elevated access rights.

Run Inventor first as the administrator (right-click on its icon and choose "Run as Administrator"). All the following starts of the Inventor application will then run in a standard way.
