How to EXTRUDE with a twisted profile in AutoCAD?

A - answer If you need to extrude a given 2D shape (profile) to 3D space in AutoCAD - along a line or along a curve, and rotate (twist) it during the extrusion, use the command SWEEP (not EXTRUDE).

Select the source profile and before you select the sweep path (direction, rail), use the option "Twist" to enter the total twist angle. Usually you will enter multiples of the 360° angle. Then select the sweep trajectory.
