Q - question

Inventor stopped to prompt for unresolved references.
A - answer On opening assemblies, Inventor stopped to display the window "resolve reference" when my IAM assembly contains unresolved components (incl. OLE objects).

You have probably enabled the option "Skip all unresolved files" in the "File Open Options" dialog - see the Options button in the Open dialog. Disable this option again:

Also make sure you set properly the resolve option in Application Options > File > File open Options > Assembly+Part+Drawing > Skip all unresolved files:
