Q - question

PaintSelect - select objects by cursor painting - paint selection.

A - answer The freeware utility PaintSelect for AutoCAD adds a new method of object selection known e.g. from 3ds Max or from Fusion 360 - selection by "painting" over a drawing with a pressed left mouse button.

First download the file PaintSelect.vlx from Download and load it to AutoCAD with APPLOAD. You can perform the paint selection either as a standalone command PAINTSELECT, or on the prompt "Select objects:" in any AutoCAD editing command by entering the transparent command 'PAINTSELECT.

Now press (and hold) the left mouse button and "paint" over the objects you want to select. The selection box size is controlled by the PICKBOX variable, or it can be adjusted individually by pressing the "+" and "-" keys (in 1.5x multiples). You can also remove objects from the selection set by holding the Shift key.
