Q - question

PkArea - acreage of closed areas from DWG to Excel.

A - answer With the freeware utility CADstudio PkArea you can quickly transfer areas (acreage) of closed regions from a DWG drawing to an Excel table.

Download the PkArea.vlx application from Download, load it into your AutoCAD with the APPLOAD command and type the command PKAREA.

Now pick sequentially inside the individual closed areas in your drawing (temporary boundaries will be highlighted) and so transfer the measured areas into the individual rows of an Excel table. This table is either created automatically as a new, empty one, or you can pre-open any XLS table - the command will write into cells starting with the currently selected cell in Excel.

During the area digitization you can press the "U" key to delete (undo) the last transferred value/row, or press "B" to insert an empty, blank row, or press "X" to exit the area picking loop.

The procedure is illustrated in the following video:

For other area digitization options, see the related tips below.

A similar utility - PkLength - exports lengths of picked lines, arcs and curves to Excel.
