Memory configuration and possible RAM upgrades for HP DesignJet plotters.

HP DesignJet Memory Configurations

Printer model standard RAM max. RAM possible upgrade notes
 
DJ 430/450/455/488 4 on board 36 32 One free slot
 
DJ 500 16 on board 160 64/128 Necessary to buy the HP-GL/2 card to upgrade memory, the only memory slot is in the HP-GL/2 card.
Upgrade memory distribution: 16MB base + 16MB fixed in HP-GL/2 card + SIMM (64or128MB)
DJ 800 96 160 64/128 Memory distribution: 16MB fixed in motherboard+16MB fixed in formatter card +64MB SIMM in formatter card.
Upgrade: Remove the 64MB SIMM and install a 128MB SIMM
DJ 500PS 16 160* 64/128* *Possible to upgrade through the HP-GL/2 card like in the DJ500, although the HP-GL/2 card is not intended to be used with this model
DJ 800PS 160     No upgrade available
 
DJ 1050C 32 128 32/64 16MB DIMMs obsolete by 01/03/2000, supported until 03/2005
Current memory configuration: 1 32MB in one slot, one free slot.
        Upgrade to max: Change the 32MB DIMM for a 64MB DIMM, install an additional 64MB DIMM in the free slot
Possible to find DJ1050C in the field with 16MB memory only
 
DJ 5000 128 256 64/128 Two slots for memory, standard 1 128MB SIMM in one slot and one free slot.
DJ 5000PS 60" 192 256 64/128 Standard 1 128MB and 1 64MB SIMM. To upgrade, remove the 64MB and install a 128MB SIMM
