Q - question

I have a set of DWG files which are not recognized by AutoCAD.

A - answer Please verify you are using the right (latest) version of AutoCAD to open the drawings (see DWG versions in Tip 868).

Your DWG files may also come from an old CAD application "DRAFIX" which has used the same extension but a completely different file format which is not readable by AutoCAD. Such "DWG" files start with binary (hex) values 04-05-00.
