What are the differences between HP DesignJet 500 and 800?
A - answer HP DesignJet 500 plotter/printer is a model for individuals and small workgroups. It does not support queuing and nesting (and so it has less RAM - 16MB). DnJ500 supports only Windows printing - does not support HPGL/2 or HP-RTL by default (only after adding a HPGL2 card) so CAD print jobs are typically larger. It doesn't contain a print server JetDirect and the "D" (A1) size model (24") has no floor stand.

HP DesignJet 800 has a built-in "virtual computer" which frees up host computer immediately after releasing a print job. It contains a 6GB hard disc, more RAM (96MB/160MB), supports CALS language and the above mentioned queuing/nesting (saves paper media when printing smaller size print jobs).
