Problems entering foreign language characters in AutoCAD text.

If you want to write texts with e.g. accented characters in your AutoCAD drawings, you can use standard Unicode fonts. Please use an OS with Unicode support (NT-based: NT4, Win2000, WinXP and above).

If you use a Unicode font (TTF or SHX) there is no need to have a special "CE" or "Cyr" version of a font. Use MText to write your texts.

Please note you have to have the required language support (locale) installed in Windows (see Control Panels). Otherwise AutoCAD displays wrong characters or asterisks ("?").

You can also force a Unicode font to switch to a CE locale script (alias) using FontSubstitutes in Registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes] :

 font name,0=font name,238

e.g.:

 AccentCE,0=AccentCE,238
