Very slow Xrefs, block insertions, copying objects; bloated files.
A - answer When you insert an external block, attach an external reference or just copy/paste objects in AutoCAD 2008, you may find the operation very slow (delays in up to tens of minutes). The DWG files also grow very large. This may be caused by a very large list of annotation scales in the specific DWG file.

To reset the scale list to the default values use the SCALELISTEDIT command and its option Reset.

For batch processing of multiple files (drawings) use the DBXremSL utility (or Scale List Cleanup) - see the Tip 5871.
