Q - question

Replace block instances (incl. dynamic) with another block.

A - answer Using the updated utility RiBlock you can replace block references (instances, occurrences, insertions) with another block (block name) in your DWG or with an external block. The replacement can keep or copy both geometric and non-graphic properties of a given block reference.

Using the option "Selected blocks" you can perform unconditional replacement of all selected blocks with a single new one. With the option "Block name mask" you can specify a series of similarly named blocks (e.g. "Mech*").

As for the properties you can optionally keep or copy the block attribute values (with the same name), parameters and visibility states in dynamic blocks. You can either keep existing values of the original instances (the default setting), or use the default values of the block (by disabling copy options), or copy values from the replacement block instance (the option Copy from Replacement).

Optionally you can purge unused (replaced) block definitions after the replacement.

Besides that you can also run this utility in the command line mode (CMDDIA=0).

You can download the freeware utility RiBlock from Download, load it with APPLOAD and run it by typing the command RIBLOCK.
