Q - question

Undocumented: automatic Zoom All for Inventor views

A - answer In Inventor, you can preset an automatic change of model views to "zoom all" (zoom extents) when you open an IPT part or IAM assembly. This undocumented function can be found in the option "Initial View Extents".

Using the ribbon function Tools > Options > Document Settings > Modeling > Initial View Extents change the parameters "Default width/height" from the default values of 100 and 50 mm to 0 and 0. Zero values mean "auto", i.e. recalculation to true extents of your 3D model.

So after you open a document, Inventor performs a "Zoom extents" and you will get a full view of your model. You can preset this behaviour by saving this option to your Inventor template files for parts and assemblies.
