What is the maximum number of points in point clouds displayed in AutoCAD?

A - answer The maximum number of displayable points in point clouds imported resp. attached (POINTCLOUDATTACH) into AutoCAD from the capture application Autodesk ReCap (.rcp) is 25 million in AutoCAD 2015 (in AutoCAD 2014/2013 it was 10 million). For 32-bit versions of AutoCAD (and for AutoCAD 2012/2011), this maximum is at 1.5 million points. Point clouds in old legacy file formats have a maximum of 10 million points.

This limitation applies as a total of all points clouds attached in the respective drawing. The setting is stored in the POINTCLOUDPOINTMAX variable (POINTCLOUDPOINTMAXLEGACY for legacy formats)).

For setting go to Options > 3D Modeling:
