Hello,I am doing research for certain company for possible software neededto "automate" conversion from 2D image (Autocad DWG or similar) to 3D model (Solidworks, creo, inventor etc). I was wondering if there is any knowledge on these forums about a software developed for this purpose? I have found some software like Aspire Flexidesign and ptc Autobuildz but it seems that those support have ended long time ago.Thank you in advance.

With the Creo product suite you can automate the production of a 3D model from a 2D design but I'm guessing that 2D design has to be done within the suite using Creo Layout.  In other words, I don't think you could take a 2D drawing done in AutoCAD, for example, and generate a 3D model in Creo automatically. There is a program called TactonWorks that claims to be able to transition from a 2D drawing to a 3D model.  I don't know what file types (ex. - .dwg) are supported.
