I'm a casual CAD user. I fumble around and am able to produce drawings, but I am not intimately versed in the software.

I did take CAD 1 and 2 many years ago using R14 and we were taught how to customize our tool bars.

The one toolbar item that I cannot find in 2010 and would like to have as a command icon on the screen is textedit.

Does anyone know where it is in 2010 and how I can get it on to my workspace?

This problem of mine goes to my lack of expertise in dealing with dimensioning. On some dimension lines I can double click and the CAD text editor starts (great), on other cases the editor does not start, but the properties dialog box and the quick properties box open up. It is awkward to edit text in the quick dialogue box.

Thanks to all who can help

Hello, if it helps it's possible to edit a text without a clip on an icon.
Try double clip on the text to open a "text edit window".
It's also possible to lauch the command "DDEDIT".
It's also possible to lauch the command "DDEDIT" using the "short" command listed in you file ACAD.pgp that you will find in :
(C) / Program files / Autocad XXX / Support.
This file lists all the short commands that you can tipe directly and you can add all the command that you want provide the short command is not used by the software or the system.
