 Hi ,
Trying my hand at 3d. I am having difficulty using 3d Move  command.
I am  only able to get my shaded solids to move in only xy plane. For some reason   I am not able to get my boxes one on top of each other.   I used first 2D rectangles - then ( PEDIT- join) poly line - SE Isometric view -  Extrude.  I checked  Ortho ( off)  Osnaps ( off ).  What have I  done or not done  to get the solids one on top of each other using  both  drop down "Move "  or the  3D operation " Move" -

Thanks in advance. Joferna

If you know the offset (e.g. 12.3), you can use the MOVE command and specify 0,0,12.3 as the offset.

Thanks, Vladimir,

Yes it works. I suppose this is the accurate and correct way of  moving the objects up and down. But is there a way to do it if you  want "free hand"   - like drag & click for the 3 D for the Z axis ??. Its great that you  guys are there to help us  newbies to learn the subject  better and well

Using OSnaps makes moving/placing objects a lot easier and more accurate.  You should also learn to use the Dynamic UCS.

Thanks John,
I think you are referring to ' move - select object -  shift / right click  - select   base point snap -  move object  -shift/ right click - select osnap attachment  on subject  - and enter   for accurate palcement .

How could one use dynamic UCS  in this respect ?/  I am not very familiar with use of  dynamic UCS. I like to learn from you if it is something easy & quick . If not give me some pointers  and I will do it my self

Another option: ALIGN command.
