I will be working with a contracter overseas that uses Solidworks to draw ductwork. I use Autocad MEP, I do not have any experience with Solidworks, I have watched a few videos and it appears it is more for creating detailed parts. Will Autocad MEP blow them out of the water for creating different systems and complicated offsetting duct runs? We are trying to convince them to switch over for coordination purposes, any thoughts?

Hello Darnell, it's not a problem to use AutoCAD MEP and Solidworks if you use 3D with AutoCAD.
There are some things to know when openning 3D DWG files on Solidworks to use AutoCAD as a 2D sketch or 3D volumes.
You will have to set correctly the units ( mm , inches , etc... ) if not it's going to be NOT OK.
If I understand correctly, your customer wil give you 3D Solidworks for you to take out detail drawings on AutoCAD ?
You will have to get a .sat file with the good options.
