Hi all!

This is my first post here, I tried to search into the forum but I cant seem to find my answer even tought I'm sure it have been answered before.  I'm using Autocad 2009 and I seem to be stuck on the 3D view ( with the gray background instead of black ) by default when I open any DWG. I dont even knoe how to switch back to normal 2D view since I never used 3D in autocad.  And I know even less how to set this 2D view by default.

Thanks for your help!

Right click your mouse in the center of your screen or over your command line and then click options> go to the Profile tab make sure the right profile is being used in your autocad if not select it and set it to current.  If your not using the right profile make sure you go to the start up icon on your desktop right click it and click on properties.

"C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008\acad.exe" /p "Change this name to the profile you wish to run as the default"

your target name may differ somewhat but here is how you get it to start the defualt profile you wish.

If you do not have a default pofile then change your workspace off of 3D Modeling and select your 2D modeling options.  the export the profile on your computer this way if this trouble ever arises you can reimport and fix it automaticly.

If nothing else works you can select the default profile and click reset this will bring up the default autocad settings.

Thank you for the answer.

I resetted to profile to default and restarted my Autocad and I still have the same problem. All the toolbars are Ok but the object view is still in 3D mode.  I have managed to diseable the ViewCube but that doesnt change my object view.  Still getting that grey background. And it really is in my Autocad because I can open the same file with another workstation and the Object view is ok ( Black background and all my shapes, filling etc are there )

Any other ideas ?

I'm using 2008 but 2009 is just an enhancement, try this:
File/New

    It will show the
Templates/select acad.dwt or acadiso.dwt

Then save the drawing to make it the default template.
