Hi guys, a question from a newby!I've been using Acad 14 since it came out & have no need to change as it does all I need it to, HOWEVER, its been on a 'box' PC with printer ports to feed a CNC machine & a Roland pen-plotter.So far so good, but I now need to 'split' the 2 machines to different buildings & wish to run the plotter from a new laptop, which of course has no printer-port, only 4 x USB slots! As you may know Acad 14 has no provision for USB ports, so my question is: can I send drawings to the pen-plotter from the laptop via USB? I have managed to load the Roland drivers in 14, but it only shows 'Com1/2  & LPT1/2, no USB.Can it be done, or do I have to use an old PC??Thanks in advance.

Please excuse me for being blunt, but if you need access to USB ports and R14 doesn't provide you with that access, then R14 does not do everything you need it to do.I, too, felt that R14 did everything I needed it to do, but what I
didn't realize were all the features that I wanted to do but couldn't just because of similar limitations in R14.
There is so much new functionality in 2009, 2010 and surely 2011 that
you will truly be amazed at the excuses you made for not upgrading
sooner.Believe me, I know how you feel. I LOVED R14. To me, it was THEE best version of AutoCAD made; and I held out for over a decade before I finally got the nerve to move on, but I have to tell you, truly, that I don't miss it and that I'm glad I upgraded when I did.To answer your question though: There is almost always a way to do things, you just have to find the right workaround. Sounds to me like you may be able to plot to PDF, then sending that PDF to a computer with the ability to plot via COM/LPT port.I hope that helps.Good Luck!!
