Hi all, I have the same detailing in the main part of a drawing and also in a zoomed section of the drawing.Problem is I want to turn of the detailing in the main drawing and just show it highlighted in the zoomed section, but I have somehow put them both on the same layer,so when I turn off the main drawing layer I also loose the detailing on the zoomed section.....So how do I assign a new layer to this section of the drawing, or delete the detailing from the main section without loosing it in the zoomed section Thanks... Mark

Are you working with a paper space layout and viewports?  Yes/No/I don't know the difference?

If you are working with viewports you can freeze layers independent of other viewports.

Thanks for the replies, I understand about viewports and layers in the main.I am am working in model space with several layers and paper space. What i was trying to ask is how do I assign a section of a drawing to a new layer, whats the actual a to z process? I have tried creating a new layer/viewport  but when I select the part of the drawing in question I dont get the options to assign to new layer, just the proceedure i dont understand. Many thanks.....

You do know how to create a new layer right? Are you familiar with freezing particular layers in individual viewports in the Layer Properties Manager?
