Good Morning/Afternoon all,I downloaded 2017 yesterday and have been unable to make Autocad '17 find my .shx file that I use in every drawing (of course)  I have added the font to the following locaitons:C:\Users\XX\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Autocad 2017\UserDataCache\SupportC:\Users\XX\AppData\Local\Autodesk\AcCloudConnect\SettingSync\XX\ACD\2017\ENU\UserSettings\Files\%RoamableRootFolder%\SupportC:\Users\XX\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Autocad 2017\R21.0\enuC:\Users\XX\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Autodesk Sync\Cloud\XX\Automatic Copy\Support Files\FontsC:\Program Files\Autodesk\Autocad 2017\UserDataCache\SupportC:\Program Files\Autodesk\Autocad 2017\FontsC:\Program Files\Autodesk\Autocad 2017\SupportC:\Autodesk\Autocad_2017_English_Win_64bit_dlm\x64\acad\Program Files\RootC:\Autodesk\Autocad_2017_English_Win_64bit_dlm\x64\acad\Program Files\FontC:\Autodesk\AutoCAD_2017_English_Win_64bit_dlmC:\Users\XX\Documents\CRD Files\Fonts & Plot Files <--I have added this to the Support Files Search Path in Options. This is driving me nuts - obviously as I have placed the file in so many locations.  Please help!

Instead of placing a copy of the font in every imaginable folder you could think of why didn't you just search the AutoCAD Knowledge Base for an answer?  Then perhaps you would have run across this article...https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCAD-cannot-find-SHX-font.htmlBTW...after you copied the font to one or more folders did you happen to shut down then restart AutoCAD by any chance? One more thing....make the font a part of your custom template file too as in having it already loaded so you won't have to reload it each time you start a new drawing.

You seem so angry.  I have searched for hours before coming to this forum.  If you will note, every folder noted in the AutoCAD knowledge base appears in my listing. Perhaps...you are jumping to conclusions.Yes I not only shut down and re-opened autocad and several drawing files no less than 20 times while trying different options I had found or guessed at based on where previous files in the same folders as previous versions.  Within that time, I also completely shut down the computer no less than 5 times.I will google how to make the font a part of my custom template. Thanks for the tip.

Well if you haven't been able to find the font yet how are you going to make it part of your template?  Solve the first problem before trying to move onto the second.

Wait for some fine soul who maybe is having the same problem that can brainstorm with me, or someone with knowledge of a fix they would like to share.Until then I keep up with my workload, search in the evenings, and have a good day!

I have 2017 installed.  Attach a copy of the font to your next post and I'll see if AutoCAD can find it or not.

I do not know how to attach a shx file in this forum, error message due to extension.

Here is a link http://www.cad-corner.com/Text_Styles/archstyl.shxI see that you responded to a post on May 14 RE: AutoCAD 13.  I followed the directions you posted there and it was all in alphabetical order, there was still no archstyl.shx on the text style menu

John Connor

Try changing the .shx file type to .txt.

Christy RD

No luck renaming to txt, still recognized as a shx file after rename.here is the contents if viewed in notepad - no idea if this will help...AutoCAD-86 shapes 1.0  ‚ e   4        ! Well, what happened?  Were you still unable to upload the .SHX file or did you finally solve your problem?I guess he finally solved in on his own.

I have not found a fix yet.  I realized that I still have 2016 installed so I've gone back to it until I can resolve the issue.  I am still looking for a fix and will post when/if I figure it out.Any help is appreciated.I cannot upload the .shx file to the forum, it is not an allowable option for attachments - maybe for newbies - I don't know. It's the same file I linked you in a previous post.I'm a lady. :-)

OK...since I now have installed 2017, just to troubleshoot your problem, I'll download that .SHX file and see if I can get it to work.  But first I'll try it in AutoCAD 15 which I am still using.Christy = lady.  Got it.  Now don't go getting offended but I named my female chocolate lab Christie after some woman who's last name is Brinkley.  Cue theme from Twilight Zone.

I got the font to work in both AutoCAD 2014, 2015 and 2017.  For proof re: 2017 I offer the following.

John Connor

And this is the path to the font.Command: (findfile"archstyl.shx")"C:\\Users\\John Connor\\appdata\\roaming\\autodesk\\autocad 2017\\r21.0\\enu\\support\\archstyl.shx"When you invoke the STYLE command and view the list of available fonts it should be located between two TrueType fonts named Arabic Typesetting and Arial.Am I forgiven for coming across as angry (I wasn't)?John Connor2016-03-29 17:43:43

I guess Christy must have finally solved the problem on her own.  You go girl!  LoLNow I can uninstall 2017.Oh well, onward and upward.

I don't get offended easily!  For some reason I was not getting notifications that there were replies to this post.  For some reason, after working in 16 for a week or so, I opened 17 and it was suddenly working.  I have no idea why, I had not changed anything but I'll take it!
Am I forgiven for coming across as angry (I wasn't)?
I'm glad you were not angry but it came across that way.  Over the years, I was a member of several forums for AutoCAD & Jeeps, & SVT's.  People are always quick to jump on newbies assuming they have not searched for a solution before they posted a request for help.   I see that you are a seasoned poster yourself so I'm sure you have seen that many times yourself.Anyway, I appreciate your time and your willingness to help.  Just remember, not everyone is an a$$! Thanks again!
