Getting started with ACAD Elec 2012. Not very experienced with Cad. I understand most of the basics in this package, but I can't seem to find information regarding the model space and the paper space.EX:. I have a border/title block template (ACAD default) that I am using. When I place an object from "Instert from Schematic List ". The object is full scale or close to it. I either have to draw to full scale and use a viewport to place it in the paper space , or scale the components. either way I am lost. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Was ACADE meant to take advantage of a paper space layout?

Hello, I know about AutoCAD and not AutoCAD Electrical but I guess that it's the same on every sofware :
You draw or use component drawn at scale 1 and set a zoom in the paper space ( in different viewports if different scales ) to have them entering in the sheet dimension that you want to use ( may be US 11""x8.5" or US 17"x11" in your case ).
model space and paper space may be difficult to understand but you can do that example :
Draw a rectangle of 11"x8.5" in the model space.
Make some copies of it, scale the copies at different exact scales and open viewports in the paper space dimension 11"x8.5" + zooms to set the diffrent scales on that different rectangles ( open the viewport, Zoom 1/your scale XP or exact Zoom on the extremities of the rectangles ).
Please tell us if it's OK or if the concept is not applicable to your AutoCAD Electrical or else...

Very differant as far as I can tell. When selecting components, you can set the scale factor at that time. Then it will work to your paper space.orScale the drawing such that the rectangle that is drawn to represent the sub panel fits the drawing borders. Not exactly sure yet. I purchased the "Autocad Electrical 2012 for Electrical control designers" written by Sham Tickoo of Purdue University. It is an excellant book. But it doesn't cover some particulars like this! Thanks for you repsonce, in a short time ( I hope) I will post the correct methodology for drawing/object scaling in Acad Electrical. Kind Regards,
