Ph.D. intern, Charlott Vallon, shares how robots learn Each year Autodesk hosts interns for the summer. We often have a mix of high school and college students. Instead of assigning them rudimentary tasks based on their limited experience, we treat them as peers and involve them in projects that help advance our technology. This summer was no exception. This week, the interns got to showcase their work. Here are some of the projects that our interns worked on. Jin Ho Lee UC Berkeley The Present, Future of Generative Design Jack Reinke and Brice Dudley University of Florida and Stanford Applying Generative Design in the REAL World Charlott Vallon UC Berkeley Teaching Virtual Robots by Demonstration in Virtual Reality Mohammed Kashavarzi, Ardavan Bidgoli, and Jin Ho Lee UC Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, UC Berkeley V-Dream: An Immersive Platform for High Dimensional Solution Space Navigation Hsien-Chung Lin and Fereshteh Shahmiri UC Berkeley and Georgia Institute of Technology HIROVR: Human Interaction with Robot through Virtual Reality Minhyuk Sung and Yangyan Li Stanford and Shandong University(China) Dancing Parts: Learning and Exploiting Component and Assembly Variability in Design Uday Suresh UC Berkeley Genetic Constructor: An extensible toolkit for genetic engineering Michael Freeman and Tomer Weiss Stanford and UCLA BIDS: Building Information Designs from Sketches As you can see from the titles of their projects, it was quite a summer. Congratulations to all of the interns who helped us. They learned. We learned. Win-win. Our interns can now return to school and write that paper entitled "How I Spent My Summer Vacation." School is alive in the lab. Go to the original post...
