Hello all,I want to create 3D models of electronic components for my Altium electronic design CAD program.  Altium reads .step files, so they need to be in that format (or convertible).  I also don't want to spend more than about USD 100, because I'm cheap.  :-)  I've tried Alibre PE, and it's a great program but it only produces .stl files which don't contain color information.  Any other suggestions? Thanks,Gerrit

I think you're going to have to spend a little more than $100. Check out Rhino. You can get a commercial, single-user, license for around $1,000.http://www.rhino3d.com/index.htm

I agree with CAD64...Stop being Cheap.  You can upgrade your Alibre PE to Pro for half the price of Rhino

Might I suggest ZwCAD Pro?  Until January 31st you can buy it for $449 (U.S.) and it looks and works remarkably like AutoCAD.
