We recently installed Autocadd 2014 Design Suite.  Sometimes I can cut and paste through the clipboard on some files, and some I cannot.  Anybody know why?  Our last version was 2008, so some of the drawings may still be that version. Thanks!

Did you also install service pack 1 for AutoCAD 2014?

OHHHHHHH, probably not.  I'll have to check on that!  Thank you!

Well, I did check and our IT guy had already installed Service Pack 1 on my machine.Back to the original problem of not being able to cut and paste items from different drawings on only some of my drawings.  Other suggestions would be appreciated!

What is the source of the "other" drawings?  Were they created by an outside company?  Do you know what program was used to create the drawing. Are you cutting and pasting AutoCAD entities or something other?

They are autocadd entities from one to the other.   Some blocks.  Nothing unusual.  That's the strange part.  Some drawings I can, some I cannot.

Without a sample drawing file to test I'm not sure I can come up with a suitable answer to your dilemma.  Have you tried looking on the AutoDesk website for an answer or asking over at the Discussion Groups?  Have you done a general Internet search on the problem?  Are you seeing any error messages?  How do you know the entities are not being pasted?  What did you do to check?

Here is another odd thing.  I just opened up the same two drawings that I was working on yesterday and tried the cut and paste and it now works.   Last night before I left, I audited and purged the drawings and exited Autocadd.  It seemed to clear something.  Not quite sure what though.  My coworker has similar problems.  Different machine, but share same files.

I was going to ask if you had done a purge and audit but I wanted to see your responses to my initial set of questions.Did you run the command line version of purge that is preceded with a dash?Did you also run the Overkill command?

I had not, but I will try next time I have that problem.  Thank you for all your advice.

In this order...1. Overkill (see Express Tools)2. -Purge; purge Regapps first3. -Purge; do a Purge > All4. Audit; have AutoCAD fix any errors that are found5. Zoom > All6. SaveGood luck.
