In my opinion nobody can give you a straigth answer because in many cases the cliet is buying a specialised software for the domein they need.ex: Civil 3d for civil engineering or arhitectural for architects ... etc.Simple autocad is the base ... so good luck diferent CAD software .... just search in google "CAD software" and you will see how many you will find (free or payd).

You may e.g. look at AutoCAD Architecture 2010 (AutoCAD-based) or Autodesk Revit Architecture 2010 (database/parametric based).

If you are beginner you should start with basic Autocad. Always learn the highest version software available. If you are looking specifically for Architecture then you can learn Autocad Revit 2010.

My suggestion is learn basic Autocad and then move to different softwares, that would be easy.
