Hi Guys,I'm new to this, so please bear with me. I have been trying to generate conical plate sections with bent flanges so that I can give the client a Flat Pattern of the Plates. Modelling it is not a problem o show him what it looks like, but I cannot get Inventor to give me a Flat Pattern. I first tried on 2013, and now on 2017. I have not had a lot of Sheet Metal Experience, which doesn't help.I appreciate that with a cone, everything converges to the apex point, and I think this is one of the problems I am dealing with.Any help would be appreciated. I don't know how to attach the basic assembly I have done, to give an adea of what I need, but I am happy to email it to whoever can help.Regards,
John Connor

You might have better luck getting assistance over at the AutoDesk discussion groups. Check out the Inventor forum. Look for a guy named J.D. Mather.

Hi,I didn't get exactly what you mean, but I assumed the flanges are bend after the conical shape is made ( i mean you've made the conical part then you bend or deform it to get the flanges)in that case as far as i know INVENTOR can't help you with flat pattern ( Inventor does not do Deformation of that type).if you need just flat pattern of a conical shape, you must follow these two rules1- thickness of shape equal to sheet metal thickness setting2- The shape must not be closed if you are using revolution don't use full revolution instead use angle 359.99, or just cut the shape with a very thin section or gap.

Hello Gardyne and John.I'm just unable to scan a file to jpeg so if you can try and open the AutoCAD file here enclosed. And what more than : angle = 180° x D / G to calculate and/or draw the open metal sheet do you need ? uploads/175428/CONE_DEV_01.dwg
