I am a total autocad newb. Just learning the basics. Couple
things I can't figure out. I'm trying to replicate the drawing on the
top. I'm working on the bottom one. How do I get the 1/4" dimension
numbering on either side of the 7" to line up like the top? What is the
font used on the top one, I can't seem to find it in autocad. Lastly,
what is an easy way to make those angles in the insets? The only method
I could come up was to make to make the 1/2" deep inset at 90 degree
angles and then come back and draw a 1/4" box on either end. Then I'd
draw the diagonal line in the 1/4" box to make the angle and then erase
the lines not needed. Seems kind of tedious, just wondering if there is
an easier way. Thanks.

Hi knight2255,

For the dimension question, click the dimension, select the middle marker and drag it to where you want it.

As far as the angle goes, use the chamfer command. I would strongly suggest using the help function in AutoCAD when you are not sure of what to do.

I don't know which font that is, to many to choose from.

Hope that helps,
nameci

hi,

just one thing to the dimension. You can do it the way nameci told you, but I think easier way is to configure the dimension style so you dont have to do it with every dimension:
type _dimstyle, a box will appear, choose modify, text, text placement vertical - above, horizontal - centered, text alignment - aligned with dimension, line.
