Display full version of the post: Fatal Error when I try to open Certain DWGs

I need some answers. The issue I am having with my AutoCAD 2010 is that it Fatal Errors right at the open of certain drawing. The common things I am noticing is that the drawings all have been saved in the layout tab. The layout tabs have multiple viewports at different scale factors, different visual Styles applied (such as 3D hidden), and from different view angles (top, side, front, and Isometric).
This problem just started recently. In fact I was really proud of my ACAD, for being able to handle some of the more graphics intensive drawings. Now I cant even open them.

Other things I noticed while trying to figure this problem out:
ACAD will some times let me open the problem drawings only after a full system restart. Another thing is the ACAD I have on my workstation saves more data to the file, even if I don’t make any change the drawing at all. For example, one of the problem drawings lives on the network server and is 156KB. After a system restart I path to it and try to open it. If it opens, I save it “qsave” without making any changes. And then close it. If I go to open and path back to it again, the drawing is now 217KB and Fatal Errors and crashes my ACAD. Now I can have another drafter on my team open the same drawing from their workstation, “qsave” without making any changes and then close it. And the drawing will return to 156KB in size. Rinse, Repeat. I have watched it do this in real time with windows explorer window open to the folder where the file resides.

Things I have tried so far:
Purge and audit the drawing -- no error found
Open the drawing as a partial open – could not find anything wrong with it.
Repaired installation of ACAD2010 – problem persists
Reinstalled installation of ACAD2010 – problem persists

This problem is the only problem that I have had with ACAD 2010 so far since a clean install on a brand new custom built computer. No problems for three months and now for the past couple of days it has had this problem with just a few drawings.

I am running AutoCAD 2010 Full Ver.2 SP1 on Windows XP (32bit) SP3
